World's 2nd private moon mission headed by PIO

India's Astrobotic's Peregrine lander, the second private mission to the moon, will lift off on Monday with over 80,000 messages from kids worldwide and a piece of Mount Everest. The mission director, Sharad Bhaskaran, has early India connections. The touchdown is scheduled for February 23 on the moon's Bay of Stickiness. This will be the first US lunar landing since Apollo 17, and it launches under Nasa's Commercial Lunar Payload Services Initiative with the help of United Launch Alliance's Vulcan Centaur rocket.
